La Tribu

La Tribu (The Tribe) an explosive 8-piece band straight out of Havana, tours, records and throws down with their brother Cimafunk. Together, Cimafunk & La Tribu have electrified audiences around the world, lighting up some of the planet’s biggest festivals, legendary venues, and high-profile award stages. Their live show is a full-blown celebration and out-of-body experience that smashes through genres, languages, and generations—bringing the funk to jazz festivals, jam band throwdowns, Latin music blowouts, and everything in between. The result: a dance-floor-leveling spectacle that helped make Cimafunk the most in-demand Latin act at U.S. music festivals in 2024 and 2025.

La Tribu is powered by the funky, hard-hitting crew: Dr. Zapa (musical director/drums), Hilaria Cacao (trombone/vocals), Katy Cacao (saxophone/vocals), Machete (percussion/vocals), Big Happy (minor percussion/vocals),  Wao (piano), El Ra (bass), and El Friki (guitar). Recent highlights include Bonnaroo, Coachella—where they made history as the first Cuban-born act ever on the lineupMontreal Jazz, Newport Jazz, New Orleans Jazz, and Japan’s Summer Sonic. Cimafunk & La Tribu have also brought the heat to NPR’s Tiny Desk, Austin City Limits, the Hispanic Heritage Awards, the Kennedy Center Honors and the Grammy Awards.
